Any trait will work well with the Materialistic trait. The Frugal rewards trait will reduce the amount of bills the Sim will have to pay by 25%. This trait is good for a Sim that will be purchasing a lot of items.

This is because the aspiration focuses on purchasing items. Also, when Sims complete the aspiration, they get rewarded for spending money.
The worst aspiration for a Sim that is materialistic is the Fabulously Wealthy aspiration. This aspiration focuses on saving money and building up the household funds rather than spending money.

The perfect career choice for a Sim that is Materialistic is Business. Materialistic Sims gain career performance twice as fast as other Sims.
Skills
Any skill would benefit from the Sim having a materialistic trait. The Happy Moodlet the trait provides gives you a quick way to get to the Very state of any emotion just by buying items in build mode.

- Sims with the trait are 10% more likely to have success when sending spam money requests.
Materialistic Trait Description
The official description from the trait states:
These Sims can Admire and Brag about Possessions and become Sad when they haven’t purchased a new item for a period of time.
When you first perform an action with a materialistic Sim you get a notification that more insight on the trait. It reads:
[Sim’s Name] is Materialistic. Materialistic Sims need to buy new things and enjoy admiring and discussing their belongings.
Admire Possessions
Sims with the Materialistic trait are able to admire any new objects they purchase. The strength of the Moodlet from admiring the items depends on how much the items cost. Sims can only use this interaction on objects when there is no Moodlet present. The Moodlets for this trait are very powerful.
Brag about Possessions
Sims can brag about their possessions to other Sims. This social will provide a bump to the social need as well as to the relationship bar. It is a great way to discover if a Sim is also materialistic.
Sad When New Item Not Purchased
Although the description states the Sim will receive a sad Moodlet. The Sim actually receives a tense Moodlet.
